Dealing with Fake Reviews on Mero Rating

Our community is built on trust and it defines the essence of Mero Rating. Whether you are a business owner or a customer, you put your trust in us to provide information people can rely on to make good decisions.

We take the job of combating fake reviews very seriously and work around the clock to maintain that trust to create a trustworthy community populated with genuine reviews only. We have developed and implemented various fake review detection and removal policies to ensure genuine business and customer experience with each review. Here’s an overview:

Transparency: Anyone can give a rating and write a review. The main idea is to provide a free common platform for customers to share genuine experiences and businesses to get genuine customer feedback.

Policy violation: We help everyone understand how to use Mero Rating correctly. We have a set of policies and community guidelines to ensure a genuine user experience for both businesses and customers. We keep track of every activity performed by a business or customer. In case a user violates the guidelines, there will be some consequences to every fraud action.

Fraud detection with experts: When it comes to fraudulent reviews and suspicious activities, we’re always alert. To support our software, we have dedicated experts who monitor every activity on the software to ensure the fraudulent behavior and misuse of our platform. We tackle them with serious actions which may include review removal, account suspension, etc.

Here is the list of some fraud actions:

Valid user profile details: We look over the reviewer’s profile information and look for issues. An email can be taken for reference as the email must be unique and not a temporarily generated email.

Track fake accounts: If an account was created just a few days ago, and it has a huge number of reviews. This is suggestive of an account created with the specific purpose of posting fake reviews. These accounts will be terminated.

Analyze the reviews: The structure and pattern of reviews are also analyzed to identify a fake review.

Reported frauds: We let our users play a vital role in creating a genuine community for everyone. Any suspicious review or account can be reported by users that will be analyzed by our experts. The account will be suspended in case of fraud.

Reviews can be also reported for other reasons:

  • If it contains threats, lewdness, promotion purposes, or hate speech.
  • It violates Mero Rating’s privacy standards.

A review could have the potential to offend other users and be a legal issue. So look carefully at the fraudulent review in question. Do they use curse words or vulgar content? Do they make threats, obvious or otherwise? Do they say anything that could be constructed as hate speech against people of certain races, genders, religions, sexual orientations, etc.

You can find the guidelines to report any review here.

Safeguard our Customers: We post customer warnings on company profile pages to warn our community that a business must be misusing our platform. We take disciplinary action when necessary, including terminating contracts with companies that continuously fail to comply with our guidelines. Similarly, we can also block reviewers.

Whistleblowers are taken seriously: Anyone with information about fraud or misuse of our platform can make a confidential report through any means. You can get in touch with us through email, phone, social media, or any other medium we are available at.
